Pushing Himself Across America
Ryan Chalmers is an extraordinary guy. He was born with spina bifida, a condition that has left him in a wheelchair his entire life. Despite that obstacle, Ryan has become an elite athlete, and competed in 4 events in the Paralympics last summer in London! Next on Ryan's plate? Entering the record books by becoming the first person to push himself across the entire United States in a wheelchair!
Ryan's goal is to raise awareness for Stay Focused, a non-profit organization that helps introduce teens and young adults with disabilities to scuba diving. In this Backstage Bonus, Ryan shows off his racing wheelchair, and talks about how Stay Focused changed his life. Plus, Roger Muller, the founder of Stay Focused, shares how many lives his organization has changed.
